Our week+ with Trevor the mini schnauzer in Singapore went by too quickly! He is incredibly lovable, gentle, and smart, but perhaps a bit anxious. He loves humans and we loved giving him all of the attention! Two walks a day, brushing teeth and fur, bathing, following feeding and sleeping schedule, etc. He's easy to love! We really appreciate the thoughtfulness and communicative homeowners who got us a hotel the night before and booked us transport to our next destination. Their regular dog walker also came to walk Trevor one morning because the homeowner wanted to give us a 'day off'. The homeowners scheduled their travels around our available dates too. These gestures are not an expectation at all, but they made us feel welcome and appreciated! We anticipate we'll petsit for him again one day! We are always hoping to form relationships such that we have repeat clients, which is what is happening as we get asked to come back often. We are the luckiest to be able to do this!

We cared for a 3-year-old male corgi (Finnigan) and an 18-year-old male cat (Tali) in a 3-story family home. This assignment was rather simple for us since they had automatic feeders. We walked Finnigan every day on his usual route and played multiple rounds of fetch to exhaust his high energy! Tali's energy was completely different - we spent time scratching his chin and petting. Additionally, we kept the family's normal routine of watering the plants and being present for the twice-weekly housekeepers and Tali's groomer. We enjoyed our time with these sweet animals. The family's flight schedule was almost delayed by a day, but we built in a buffer day for that reason and could still care for the pets an extra day, but in the end their planned flight went as scheduled. Overall, everything went quite smoothly! We were asked to come back and we would love to!
This was a very last-minute housesit. We happened to have availability when we saw a post about someone urgently needing a housesitter, so we spoke with Rosie that evening and booked a bus and ferry over to her place for the following day. We spent a wonderful three weeks with her two dogs and cat. Every morning, we all walked to the beach and back for about 1.5 hours where we joined their dog friends and their owners in picking up trash. Mealtime was cooked rice and chicken and we fed the cat as instructed. In the evening, we took the dogs on another walk around the neighborhood. We kept in close communication with Rosie and managed the handover to bring the dogs to her friend's home for the remaining week because we already had committed to another housesit prior - this was all agreed upon before our arrival. We loved these special pets and hope to see them again!
We cared for two dogs (a 1-year-old Thai dog, Moki, and a 1.5-year-old Husky, Nika) in southern Thailand. We regularly shopped locally at wet markets for ingredients for their meals, which were cooked chicken, rice, and sometimes egg. Every day, we all went for an hour-long afternoon walk on the beach; we supervised when they went swimming and protected them from multiple engagements with territorial stray dogs along the path. Given the environment and record-breaking heat wave, we ensured that they stayed hydrated and mostly inside with the A/C and fan (as per the homeowner's request). We also bathed them and—because they both shed a lot—we brushed them often, sweeping and vacuuming every day. Around the yard, we watered the garden twice daily and kept the lawn maintained, mowing and weed whacking, as well as pulling weeds from the gravel driveway. These two dogs are very sweet.
I (Lianne) did 3 daily check-ins for two dogs over 8 days (morning, afternoon, and night). I took them for walks twice a day, let them out back, washed ears, brushed teeth, changed diapers, fed, and of course lots of playtime and cuddles! As a stranger, I was unfamiliar with their normal behavior, but I sensed the Yorkie was feeling anxious from being away from the owner - I know how loyal and social these breeds especially are! With the owner's approval, I brought my computer to their home to work where I can spend more time with the dogs (they loved sitting on my lap!) than three 15-20-minute visits as requested. Enjoyed caring for these two!
I (Lianne) cared for three large and beautiful dogs (pit bull, mixed, white German Shepherd) in Philadelphia. I closely followed the instructions to maintain their routine - letting them on the patio in the morning, picking up poo, feeding twice a day in their designated spots, bringing their beds upstairs every night and down during the day. I took them each for their own walk for two hours a day. They are reactive to other dogs and the owners requested they not interact with others, so I was on very high alert though difficult in the busy area. I used treats, created physical barriers, and distracted them while other dogs walked by. I also used positive reinforcement if they didn't react to other dogs. I respected the owner's wishes by not allowing two of the dogs on the couch & bed. These dogs are very sweet and love attention, cuddles, and belly rubs. They got a lot of that from me! I brushed the long-haired dogs multiple times, vacuumed the house and emptied the dehumidifier every day as instructed. This was a challenging but rewarding housesit and I learned a lot. Loved these dogs!
We cared for this sweet pup, Luna, for just a weekend - wished we could spend more time with her! We took her on four walks a day and were very careful about preventing her from interacting with street dogs because of scary previous interactions that her owner was concerned about. Luckily, we didn't have any problems. Since there were two of us walking her, Lianne was able to ward off the street dogs who came to attack while Adam continued walking Luna away. We do our best to protect the pets!
We provided care for a very sweet lady, Haddie (9 years). She was shy at first, but warmed up to us quickly within the first night. We carefully followed the feeding instructions including daily medications, walked her twice a day, and brushed her every day. We loved the area so much that we ended up in an AirBnB right next to theirs so we're thankful we got to spend even more time with Haddie who came into our yard to greet us!
No, this wasn't quite a housesit, but we wanted to include this experience to exemplify our love for animals! For a few months, we rented an apartment from a lovely family in Oaxaca. The family had a dog named Dino who often came up to hang out with us. Adam got particularly close with Dino and they went for walks every single day, sometimes even twice a day.
We took care of two lovely dogs, 12 & 14 years young, Riley and Holly. We maintained their normal routine of feeding, walking twice a day, bedtime routine, in addition to brushing them regularly and giving lots of love. We also took care of the beautiful garden -- watering during dry spells, raking the relentless (but beautiful!) Autumn leaves, maintaining the compost tumbler, harvesting tomato plants (and made preserves for the homeowners), and even planted some winter vegetables. We got to know the neighbors a bit and participated in a garden day to help beautify the public lawns with succulents. We stayed with Laurel and David before and after the housesit and enjoyed getting to know the lovely couple :) We had the pleasure of having Adam and Lianne in our home for 10 weeks, caring for our property and 12 & 14 yrs young dogs. They were very reliable and responsible, they made good neighborhood contributions, they communicated promptly and effectively, they were interested in so many aspects of our lives, they lived in a very environmentally conscious way, and our dogs were obviously treated kindly and appropriately. We are very happy to recommend them to others who share our values and lifestyles. They are friendly, open, interesting and interested.
We took care of a tiny 12-year-old Maltese Shitzu in a lovely home in the Blue Mountains. We fed and administered medications as per the owner's instructions. It was quite cold at the time, so we made sure to warm her up with blankets and snuggles! "Thank you Adam and Lianne so much for looking after our home and pet in Wentworth Falls during our holiday, it made it possible for us to go away and have a worry free time knowing Misty (small dog) was lovingly cared for and our home was secure. We were pleased to come home to find everything as we had left it and Misty happy. When we first met you we were comfortable in the thought of having you house care for us and wouldn’t hesitate to welcome you back anytime in the future. The little things like remaking bed, washing linen, bathing Misty, picking up bark and branches just some of the things that made our coming home easy and not have to worry about doing those things ourselves. We would be happy for you to use this letter as a reference for future house sits and we would be pleased to expand on this letter to anyone seeking you to house care for them by phone or email. Many thanks again for your care and best wishes with your travelling."
We stayed in a gorgeous century-old home in the innerwest taking care of four sweet cats (two outdoor, two indoor) and an adorable dog who thinks she's a cat. We were very careful to not let the indoor cats outside to prevent them from getting lost. We also took care of the garden as per the host's request.
We enjoyed one week in a suburban home caring for one big German Shepard puppy, two kind cats, and a cockatoo. The puppy was very active and learning to manage his own strength, but we were able to handle his big energy and have fun on our walks!
Took care of two beautiful Huskies in an apartment in a suburb of Sydney. The lovely girls have a lot of energy, so we took them for walks four times a day. Adam's favorite band from NY happened to be in Sydney so we attended the concert. Lianne took public transport from downtown to the suburbs to walk the dogs in the evening and then went back out to the concert. We did not miss any walks for these two energetic girls - caring for the pets is our #1 priority. They got lots of attention from us! "This was our first house sitting experience so I was uneasy initially and did not know what to expect. Adam and Lianne gave us some peace of mind while we were gone. They were great. They took really good care of our pups. We were in constant contact with them via email and they offered to do a video link up to see the pups. Adam and Lianne are a great couple and put our minds to ease. I think our dogs miss them. Feel free to contact me as a reference either by phone or email. Thanks again guys! I hope you enjoy Australia!"
We spent a week in a suburban home in the Central Coast feeding the chickens and rabbit as well as taking care of a 12-year-old Border Collie, Jessie, who loves belly rubs and relaxing! Jessie had some anxiety at first, but after about two days, she warmed up to us and we got along great! Adam also did some lawn maintenance. Adam and Lianne were fantastic. They cared for our chickens and rabbit. They were obviously concerned about our older dog who has separation and anxiety issues. They ensured she was cared for and felt happy with them, a great relief to us whilst on holiday. The house was spotless when we arrived home and they had even baked us some cookies. I highly recommend Lianne and Adam and with them caring for your home and pets you can relax and enjoy your holiday.
We housesat in a large home in the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands. We took care of two spunky Papillion dogs, native birds, a possum, and fish as well as cleaning the pool. We came to really love these dogs and their contagious energy!
[Lianne] My first housesitting experience was for one week in a large home in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. I took care of two golden retrievers and helped maintain the house - cleaning the inside, backyard, and pool. I subsequently babysat for the family several times. |
